Standing Together: Good Eggs’ Commitment to Food Security in a Fragile Food System

The recent threat of a federal government shutdown and its potential impact on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for over 40 million Americans underscores a critical truth: our food system is fragile.

Access to good food is a right, not a privilege. At Good Eggs, our mission is to build a resilient local food system that supports the people who make it thrive: from the farmers and food makers we partner with to the families we serve. That’s why we’re focused on strengthening local supply chains and deepening the community partnerships that keep nourishment flowing, especially when it’s needed most.

Our Role: Minimizing Waste, Maximizing Good

Food waste and hunger are two sides of the same crisis. Every day, our teams work to ensure no good food goes unused.

Through our Food Recovery Program, we route fresh, high-quality surplus ingredients from fruits and vegetables to dairy and prepared meals directly to local organizations feeding families in need.

Each year, we recover and redirect more than 125,000 pounds of nourishing food, the equivalent of about 100,000 meals or over 60 tons of good food, to fight hunger and strengthen our local communities. This ensures nourishment reaches people, not landfills.

Our Partners: The Heart of the Work

Our commitment is brought to life by an incredible network of donation partners who are on the ground every day, directly serving the community. These organizations are the true heroes in the fight against hunger.

We’re proud to stand alongside nearly ten local partners working every day to nourish our communities and reduce food waste, including:
