The Sweet Finale

Holiday desserts are a big deal. For some people, making (and eating) dessert is the best part of the day. For others, presenting a dessert course is daunting. Good Eggs options cover the spectrum, from pre-made pies and pie bundles, to high-quality baking ingredients for classic and non-traditional desserts. Take your pick!

Semi-homemade desserts:

  • Simple Mills Chocolate Cake is a terrific grain-free option. To make it special for the holiday, simply replace the oil with brown butter and ½ of the water with bourbon for a richer, more complex chocolate cake.

  • Ice cream sandwich bar made with gingerbread cookie dough or even Three Babes Pie Dough …with Pumpkin Ice Cream! OMG!

  • Trifle is an infinitely flexible and very statement-y dessert that you can create in all sorts of flavor profiles. It’s especially nice in a dedicated trifle bowl (a wide vessel on a pedestal), but any deep glass dish that allows you to see the layers works well. First take a cake you like — could be gingerbread, chocolate cake, or vanilla poundcake. Cube it up. Then make a big batch of lightly sweetened vanilla whip cream. You can also use chopped up fruits, pudding, jam, caramel, nuts, or any other additions that add texture, color, and flavor. Start with a creamy layer at the bottom, then alternate until you have a nice distribution of cake, cream, and other ingredient. Make this one ahead so the cake has time to soak up some of the moisture and flavor.

  • Panettone Bread pudding is super festive and not hard at all. Cube up the loaf into chunks and nestle them into a baking dish. In a separate bowl, make an easy custard following a ratio of 5-6 eggs, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and about 1.25-1.5 cups of milk or cream for every loaf of panettone. Whisk those together with some nutmeg, vanilla, and a little wintry booze if you like. Then drench the panettone pieces in a bath of the creamy mixture. Bake at 350 until the top is golden brown and nicely puffed, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

For a smaller gathering:

  • Impress your guests with this restaurant-style plated dessert idea: Individual locally-made Saffron Apple Pies freshly baked off and topped with Whipped Cream + Burnt Almond Crunch (chopped almond brittle).

And finally, if you want to keep things very simple, choose from our many premade dessert in the Good Eggs bakery.
